The Rise of Online Interview (Pilots ) in Covid19

Needless to say, 2020 has been disruptive, if not challenging. Certainly, Covid19 brought along with it different challenges. It also means that recruitment processes have to be innovative to ensure noonline interview bottleneck in the recruitment process. Earlier this week, one of our pilots completed his Technical Interview online instead of going to a face to face interviews.  So how do you embrace this?

It is essential to treat an online interview using applications such as Skype, Google Meeting, etc. with care and preparation; apply more emphasis than going to a fасе-tо-fасе jоb іntеrvіеw. Prepare Your Appearance

A professional dress code with video interviews is expected – stick to a standard white shirt with a tie and make sure you are well presented. You do not want to wear an outfit that is distracting or uncomfortable. It is essential to remember th
at not all physical cues translate well in Skype interviews – smile, have a good posture, and relax your shoulders to avoid stiffness. Also, take care to look at the camera and not the video; pay attention, and always ensure your interviewer is engaged in what you are saying.

Prepare Yоur Surrounding

Pick a quiet place to interview without an elaborate backdrop so that you can be the focal point on the screen. Remove anything distracting behind you and keep it neutral, clean, and tidy. To prepare, understand where the webcam is positioned – it’s good to know what is visible. If you are interviewing in a house with multiple people or pets, be sure to let everyone in the house know ahead of time and ensure pets are not in the vicinity.

Prepare Your Equipment

Ensure your app Username and Profile Picture is appropriate and professional. Do a test run by yourself, and if you need help, ask your agency recruiter to assist – don’t leave it to your interview day to sort out

online trainingsound, microphone & equipment placement. Close all other programs on your iPad, tablet, and laptop and turn off all notifications. If you are unfamiliar with the interview app used, invest time to familiarize yourself.

Prepare for the Interview
Treat this like a traditional interview where a lot of research and preparation should have been done. You ѕhоuld also be prepared for technical and systems questions. Don’t forget to prepare questions for the interviewer or panel interviewers. Stick scannable notes on the wall at eye level if you think you will forget. Use these as cues, and don’t read this to the interviewer. Once you have gone through with the interview, make sure you send a “Thank You” email or request your recruiter to do this on your behalf.

All the very best for your upcoming interviews, and sing out to the team for help.
